A little humor.

Here are the 10 first place winners in the International Pun Contest:

1. A vulture boards an airplane, carrying two dead raccoons. The stewardess looks at him and says, "I'm sorry, sir, only one carrion allowed per passenger."

2. Two fish swim into a concrete wall. One turns to the other and says, "Dam!"

3. Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in the craft. Unsurprisingly it sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.

4. Two hydrogen atoms meet. One says, "I've lost my electron." The other says, "Are you sure?" The first replies "Yes, I'm positive."

5. Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root canal? His goal: transcend dental medication.

6. A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse. "But why?", they asked, as they moved off. "Because," he said, "I can't stand chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer."

7. A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal." The other goes to a family in Spain ; they name him "Juan." Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."

8. A group of friars were behind on their belfry payments, so they opened up a small florist shop to raise funds. Since everyone liked to buy flowers from the men of God, a rival florist across town thought the competition was unfair. He asked the good fathers to close down, but they would not. He went back and begged the friars to close. They ignored him. So, the rival florist hired Hugh MacTaggart, the roughest and most vicious thug in town to "persuade" them to close. Hugh beat up the friars and trashed their store, saying he'd be back if they didn't close up shop. Terrified, they did so, thereby proving that only Hugh can prevent florist friars.

9. Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and, with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him a super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

10. And finally, there was the person who sent ten different puns to friends, with the hope that at least one of the puns would make them laugh.

Back to the Ho Hum.

You cannot believe how many bags of garbage we hauled out of here today. I know it's been two weeks, because the dump was closed on boxing day, but nevertheless, WOW!! The diaper pail was full to overflowing too. As proud Grandparents, we don't complain about that though. We still have tons of food and treats left, but unfortunately I'll be back to the strict diet regime come Monday. I guess I'd better be eating tomorrow. After the fast of course.

Mom and I went to the Temple to wash dishes today. It was really quiet today and we were not anywhere near as rushed off our feet as some other times. They told us to go home at 2:10 because it was so slow, and Mom and I were all caught up. They've started a new thing now, and the dishwashers now get the half meal for free. (They sell full meals on regular plates and half meals on smaller plates). So we had chicken cordon bleu, baked potato and veggies for lunch. Actually they served us the full portions, but just on the smaller plate.

We visited Grandma Scott before we left Cardston. She was a little more confused than normal, but she could remember the family get togethers over Christmas, and said she had some really good times.

Mom and I went to see Up in the Air with George Clooney last night, spur of the moment like, quite unlike us. It was ok, but would probably be classed by us as worthy of movie rental status.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!! To one and all. The year has started out with huge chinook winds blowing the snow everywhere and into drifts. Hope the roads don't become un-drivable. We're all ready for the Wilde get together at 3:00 this afternoon.

Check it out Chad, the whole herd of antelope was huddled down right by our yard again this morning. There's about 30 or so of them. There were more to the right, but I couldn't get them all in the picture. Took it from the dining room window.

Bev and I went to the new Sherlock Holmes movie last night, it was pretty good. Went to the New Dynasty for Chinese food after. We got home by 10:45, but didn't bother to stay up to ring in the New Year.

This will be the last word for 2009. All the kids have gone home except for Scott and Mandy and Raeley and Mia. It turned winter again the other day, cold and snowy once more. I've spent the last few days on and off trying to put names on all the Wilde family pictures that are on the SD card for Bob and LaDeen's picture frame that we gave them for Christmas. Bob had no idea who most of the people were in the pictures. I don't know a lot of the names of the Great Grandchildren either, but between Bev and I we've got most of them. No idea though on a lot of Sue and Barry's grand children. Good thing theres a Wilde family thing tomorrow, i'll take my laptop and get Sue to help label a few of the slides. I have been working on it in Keynote on my Macbook, then I'll publish it to Powerpoint, from where I can change them into pictures to put them on the SD card. Which I have to do in two steps. I put them onto a memory stick first, and then transfer them to the SD card using the PC down stairs. But I will try and see if I can put the powerpoint on my blog, so you can see all the pictures. I hadn't thought of that before. Or maybe I'll have to e-mail it to you.

The above photo is of our new picture we bought for the living room. it's almost as long as the pink loveseat, and about 24 inches wide or so. The light from the flash didn't do it justice, but we really love it and it will go great with our new furniture.

Well have a great New Years Eve and Day. Mom and I are going to a movie (the new Sherlock Holmes) and then Chinese with John and Jan and Dave. Talk to you later. Some of you tomorrow. I'm off to Cardston to see Grandma Scott now.

Wow!!! It's been a few days since my last blog. We're pretty much ready for the big day. Treats all prepared and bought. We even got an electric fireplace for the living room. It's really nice. People have been bringing lots of gifts too. We had decided not to gift this year just around town, but now we've changed our minds and will make deliveries tonight. We're having Grandma Scott over to our place tomorrow Christmas eve, and she will spend the night. Mal's room everyone!!! so fight over the other beds for at least one night. John will take her back to the home after she spends some time with them Christmas day. We're looking forward to seeing who ever can make it home. Mallory has to work starting tonight till Monday morning. Have fun Mal!! The Coopers are crab fishing and sun bathing in sunny Port Moody, but we'll keep in touch via the phone I'm sure. The Wallburgers and the Listers will be here Christmas eve sometime. We'll have some festivities and eats. The Patricks arrive Boxing day. We should still have some eats lying around then. Mal will show up Monday after earning megga bucks on call for the holidays. I expect we'll all have lots of fun where ever we are RIGHT!!! Every one stay healthy and happy throughout the season.

ATTENTION!!! Mother is concerned that maybe the set doesn't match the rest of the kitchen too well. I think it looks fine. Do you think we need to paint the other kitchen walls something other than pinkish to get a better effect? What color? Any thoughts or ideas? Or do you think it looks OK??
